**********************ADOPTION PENDING***************** Sam's story is truly one of survival. If you haven't seen the video on our FB page, we strongly suggest you look at it to understand the trauma Sam has been through. When we got Sam, we did not know that he was severely injured. Sam had been mauled by a dog/animal and was relinquished to a shelter. Sam sat in the shelter for 8 days untreated. Sam's scalp had literally been ripped off and was only being held on by dried blood and hair. His head was horribly infected as well as his ears that were mangled. Sam required 6 hours of surgery to clean, debride and repair the wounds. All involved with his care are amazed that he survived. Despite the complete negligence of so many people before we got him and the trauma and pain he has endured, Sam is the sweetest gentlest guy you will ever meet. It has taken him nearly 2 months to heal. Sam is now ready for a loving family. Sam is very head shy and his new family needs to be very cautious and respectful around his head. He is not aggressive at all but it does scare him if you reach for the top of his head. It is better to pet him underneath his chin. Sam would do best in a quieter home as an only pet or one other dog his size. Absolutely no dogs larger than 20 pounds. We do not know his exposure to children so a home with children 16 or older or an adult only home would be best. His favorite pastimes are chewing on bully sticks, antlers or dragging his bed around. He also likes to steal shoes and slippers. He doesn't chew them up-he just likes to steal them and carry them around. Sam has a wonderful disposition and personality and his forever family will truly be adopting a very special pet. Please research the Pug breed as they do have special needs due to being a brachycephalic breed. An adoption application can be completed on this website. Adoption fee is $300
