Blanca had been hit by a car and surgery to repair her leg but her previous owners did not take care of her after surgery. Due to the lack of care her leg deteriorated and her leg had to be removed. Blanca was adopted Feb-08, and her foster mom sends a happy note!
Things are just perfect! Blanca is soooooo sweet. She and Ellie have been running and playing just like sisters! Right after you left, we went for a walk around the circle and, wouldn't you know it, the latch on the leash I was using bent open when she was pulling on it and fell off. I was so worried that she was going to run off, but she stayed right with Ellie and I and came right to me when I called her! What a good little girl! She is very smart. It was a great "test" and since then, we've taken 5 or 6 walks around the block with no leash (I just had it in my pocket) and she is GREAT and just follows Ellie around, which is good because Ellie always stays within sight. We went for a ride in the car yesterday and got her a nice Ruffwear waterproof/windproof jacket to wear outside. I think she likes it, and it keeps her nice and warm. She's been romping around in the snow with it on, and it seems to be just what she needs to be able to play outside with the furrier dogs! Since I knew that she would be okay off-leash, I bought one of those blinking safety lights that attaches to the back of her jacket so we (and other people) can see her at night.
She did great last night. Slept on her bed at the foot of our bed, right next to Ellie. Not a peep all night. She has met some other neighborhood dogs and they all like her.
My husband loves her. They took a nap together on the couch and she snuggled up right on him.
So things are going fantastic, as you can read! Blanca is so good. I still can't believe someone would ever treat her badly. She is a little angel!
