Skidgy is a dog CCCARL rescued from a high-kill shelter. Her muzzle was wired shut and she suffered from a bowed leg which made it difficult for her to run and get exercise. CCCARL paid for the surgery to fix Skidgy's leg. A CCCARL volunteer fostered Skidgy for months until her forever home was found.
Here is a note from Skidgy's new mom and dad:
Skidgy is doing well. She and Bennie play all the time now, and they finally seem to understand each other. She has taught Bennie to use his "voice" and they like to bark and sing together. While it gets a little loud at times, it's really funny and amusing. We have been enjoying the nice weather (where did it go!?) and even got to Cherry Creek State Park last weekend. It was great because they have an off leash area with a stream going through for the dogs to swim and play in. Skidgy wasn't sure what she thought about the water at first, but as soon as she saw some other dogs playing fetch in the river, she was all about it. It was a good way to try being off leash for the first time before we're just out in the middle of nowhere on a hike. Skidgy did great, she would run ahead a bit and then come running back to us. She also came to her name perfectly (which is more than I can say for her brother!).
